Good article about #occupyNashville http://on.msnbc.com/sjYk4z

Great article describing the slight “Purple” flavor of the #occupynashville camp

if conversations on the coasts tend toward left-wing political theory, such as anarchy, Marxism and socialism, protesters here work on bridging a different divide: uniting the “blue” and “red” factions in their local audience.

“We do have a lot of conservative voices in this camp and the thing that is really appealing to all of us is we believe in the common ties that bind us,” said Samantha Blanchard, a 30-year-old office administrator who was sheltering in a tent as rain poured down on a frosty, grey Sunday afternoon.

“This is a place where if people were really going to come together and form that ‘purple’ (combination of blue and red political affiliations) that everybody lusts for, it’s going to probably happen in this camp.”

I had blogged earlier one negative reaction I had to one of the statements quoted from a conservative interviewee (one which expressed a fair amount of condescension toward the idea of protesting corporate power,  and attempted to shift their animosities to “failures of Obama administration”.

I saw a picture of one particpant/supporter that I know (I had been a member of his church ,  a church somewhat nearby downtown,  10-15 years ago — this church is one of the more active political , social justice churches in Nashville,  so I may have opportunities for some #occupytheology interviews amongst their  membership,  and with the aforementioned participant/featured person from this article.
