Too much face(book) time

Doc is not impressed with Facebook.

Here’s the problem. For me, anyway.

I believe the Net is an open place. Same with the Web.

I also believe private walled gardens on the Web are fine things. Nothing wrong with them.

My problem is when the former starts looking and acting like the latter. And that’s why I’m already tired of Facebook.

Doc Searls Weblog · Too much face(book) time

I’m just starting out and playing with it.  But Doc is a pretty astute observer and user,  and he’s an "old-ER" guy , like me,  so I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up agreeing with him.  But maybe Facebook will get smarter too.

After Facebook announced their Open API,  MySpace started claiming they’ll do it too.  MySpace is forever marked in my mind as a "Murdoch/Fox" thing that I inherently mistrust,  but I’ll be interested to see what they come up with.
