Dunn Leads All of MLB in HRs

by Theoblogical on July 31, 2008

IN a year where there isn’t a whole lot to be proud of if you’re a Reds fan, here’s the first Reds player with a legit shot at being the Major League leader in Homers since George Foster back in 1977 when he hit 52,  which is still the Reds team record.  Dunn has a shot at that as well (his present pace would have him finish with 48.  But he has had two extended dry spells,  so absent another such spell,  he could re-set the team record).   Edinson Valquez had been leading most of year in Strikeouts and ERA,  but since the all-star break he’s slid out of the MLB.com leader board in those categories (at least for now).  But with a 13-4 record, and a 2.71 ERA ( a close 3rd and 3rd in strikeouts WITH 139.  He could still be in the running for Cy Young with a return to 1st half prowess.
