This Week In Facebook and Privacy Settings

This week in Google again this week was talking a lot about Facebook,  and how Facebook implements changes that are a bit of a challenge to understand,  even for ,  people like Leo Laporte (by his own admission).

Leo Laporte, Jeff Jarvis, and Gina Trapani talk about their views on Facebook and how FB may need to “turn things around”.

The High Res Video version

From what  I hear in church organizations,  it would seem that the people who talk about the technology to these organizations (like for instance,  me, and a host of others),  would be all over this.  But the opposite seems to be the case.  And I am not talking being luddite/paranoid/status-quo-protecting, afraid of the new,  or seeing evil in technology by default.  But there ARE downsides I think we need to help the churches think about and how they can help their people protect what they CAN protector what they CHOOSE the protect.

Problem with this is CHOICE depends heavily upon being able to understand the possibility of choices,  and how to implement the choices.  Leo just said on the show recording above that “Facebook privacy settings are the new “Programming your VCR".  No one knows how.
